After-school Program

After-school Program (6+)

Afterschool Program

At BBAC, our approach is grounded in understanding the neurological foundations of child development. From a neurological perspective, the brain develops most efficiently when it receives the right type of stimulation without becoming overwhelmed. By addressing foundational sensory-motor and communication challenges early, we often see improvements not only in skill development, but also in regulation, behavior, learning, and overall functioning. The earlier these foundations are established, the greater the opportunity for children to develop the skills needed to thrive in less restrictive and more independent environments. Our goal is not simply to teach isolated skills, but to build the neurological foundations necessary for long-term outcomes such as independence, confidence, academic success, and successful integration into school and community environments.

Speech Therapy

A licensed Speech Therapist will provide individual or small group (2 children) speech therapy. The program aims to improve speech, language, and socio-pragmatic skills. At the end of the week, you will be provided with a superbill that can be used to seek reimbursement through your insurance.

Gymnastics

Daily Gymnastic lessons are a core part of our program. Gymnastics offers significant developmental benefits for autistic children by promoting body awareness, coordination, and core strength—foundational elements that support motor planning and self-regulation. Through structured routines and repetitive movement patterns, gymnastics helps improve bilateral coordination, balance, and spatial orientation, which are often areas of difficulty for children on the spectrum. Class is led by professional gymnastic teachers.

Music & Movement Therapy

Most children on the spectrum struggle with motor planning and body rhythm. Improving motor planning and body rhythm will lead to overall progress. Our music and movement therapy will be led by a music teacher. This will aid in sensory integration and build core strength. At the end of the week, you will be provided with an invoice that can be used to seek reimbursement through the regional center.

Occupational Therapy

We will have an occupational therapist who will come once or twice a week to guide us with gross and fine motor activities. The gymnastics and teacher's aide will work with the children to practice these activities every day. You will be provided with a superbill that can be used to seek reimbursement through your insurance.

Piano Lessons

All children will attend piano lessons. You will be provided with an invoice that can be used to seek reimbursement through the regional center.

Other Socio-Recreational Activities - Art and Violin

Children will be grouped based on their skill level to ensure appropriate support and progression. For children who are still developing these skills, we will provide targeted support to strengthen their fine motor control before advancing further.

Violin classes will be offered to children who have already developed foundational music reading skills.

In addition, all children will be introduced to two different sports over the course of the two-month program, promoting physical development, coordination, and teamwork.

Reading, Reading Comprehension and Math (1:1 instruction)

Children who require additional academic support will receive individualized (1:1) instruction in reading, reading comprehension, and math.

Our teachers are trained in evidence-based approaches, including the Lindamood-Bell programs for reading and comprehension. For math, we incorporate the classic Montessori method to build strong conceptual understanding.

Cost

Superbills will be provided for Speech and OT.  We will provide you an invoice for rest of the socio-recreational activities to get reimbursed from the regional center.
