Are you a good SLP who loves working with children but is tired of huge caseloads, endless paperwork, and spending more time documenting therapy than actually providing it?

We are a small autism center in Sunnyvale looking for an experienced SLP to join our team and eventually help us grow our speech and communication program. You don't need to come in knowing our approach. You don't need to have all the answers.

But you do need to be curious, open to learning, willing to question, and genuinely interested in understanding autistic children beyond their speech and language skills.

What Your Workday Actually Looks Like

 

We intentionally keep the job manageable so that our therapists have the time and energy to do good clinical work.

  • Monday - Friday

  • Maximum 6 clinical hours per day

  • Maximum caseload of 20 children

  • Combination of individual and group therapy

  • Daily social communication groups

  • SOAP notes only

  • Minimal administrative paperwork

  • No pressure to maintain an unrealistic productivity quota

  • 1.5 - 2 hour midday break

  • 6 weeks of paid vacation

  • Close collaboration with other clinicians

We believe therapists do their best work when they are not exhausted.

The Clinical Work

​

You will assess children, develop communication goals, provide individual and group therapy, lead social communication programming, work closely with families, and collaborate with the rest of the team. You will have professional autonomy over your clinical decisions. At the same time, you'll have the opportunity to look at autism from a much broader perspective.

We are particularly interested in understanding the relationships between communication, motor planning, sensory processing, movement, cognition, regulation, and social development.

You don't have to agree with every idea we have. In fact, we hope you don't. We want someone who will think with us, question us, teach us, and learn with us.

Follow Children Long Enough to See What Your Work Does

 

One of the most rewarding things about working at BBAC is that you don't necessarily see a child for six months and then never know what happened to them.

Many of our children stay with us for years.

You may meet a child when they have very limited communication and eventually watch that same child participate in a classroom, develop friendships, perform on stage, learn an instrument, become more independent, and find their own way of communicating with the world.

You get to see whether the skills you worked on actually made a difference in their life. That is important to us.

We don't want to hire someone simply to follow a program we have already created.

We want you to help us make it better.

If you've ever thought:

we want to hear about it.

You will have room to develop new groups, treatment approaches, parent programs, curricula, or other ideas that you believe could help our children.

As our speech team grows, there will also be an opportunity to move into a clinical leadership role, mentor other SLPs, and help shape the future of the speech and communication program at BBAC.

Even better.

We are developing our own AAC platform based on needs we have encountered while working with autistic children. If AAC, assistive technology, or clinical innovation interests you, you'll have the opportunity to contribute clinical ideas and help us test and improve what we are building. You don't need a technology background. You just need ideas.

BBAC pays for professional trainings and certifications that we mutually identify as valuable to your clinical development.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: $130,000+, depending on experience.

Who We Are Looking For

​

Ideally, you have:

  • Master's or doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology

  • CCC-SLP

  • California SLP license or eligibility for California licensure

  • Approximately 3–5+ years of clinical experience

  • Pediatric and/or autism experience
